Nigerian pop star, Davido, was named best international act at the 2018 BET Awards held on Sunday at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, USA.
The 25-year-old beat compatriot, Tiwa Savage; Booba from France; Cassper Nyovest of South Africa; Fally Ipupa of Congo and Stefflon Don of the United Kingdom to the award.
Other nominees in the category were Dadju (France), Distruction Boyz (South Africa), J Hus (UK), Niska (France) and Stormzy (UK).
Davido used his acceptance speech to send condolences to D’banj who lost his son in a drowning accident earlier in the day at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
D’banj had travelled to Los Angeles for the BET Awards leaving his wife and 13-month-old kid at home.
“I want to send condolences to my big brother, the actual artiste that paved the way for us to be on this stage.
“D’banj,” I want to send condolences. I’m with you, you are my brother,” Davido said.

Other winners at the BET include Beyoncé, best female R&B/pop artist; Bruno Mars, best male R&B/pop artist; Migos, best group; Chadwick Boseman, best actor, and Black Panther, best movie.
Legendary R&B singer and Grammy winner, Anita Baker, was honoured with the prestigious lifetime achievement award.
