The Director-General of the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, Dr Dipo Famakinwa, has died, according to multiple media reports.
Born on July 7, 1966, he reportedly died in a Lagos hospital on the eve of a planned evacuation for medical treatment abroad.
Famakinwa’s organisation has been in the frontline of regional integration and was responsible for designing and implementing the blueprint for better integration and governance of the six south-western states in Nigeria.
DAWN and the Oyo State Government, which hosts the organisation’s headquarters in Ibadan, had not confirmed the death at the time of filing this report.
Famakinwa studied international relations at the Obafemi Awolowo University.
He was awarded a certificate of completion for the Creating Collaborative Solutions Program, Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Executive Education in October 2014.
