Popular traditionalist, playwright, actor and author, Chief Yemi Elebuibon, has disclosed that any man who has sex with Olori Wuraola, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, may die.
The former Olori, who has since reverted to her maiden name, Zaynab Otiti Obanor, last week confirmed that her 17-month-old marriage to the Ife monarch had collapsed.
Contrary to media reports, she said infidelity and infertility on her part were not responsible for the breakup.
Speaking on what lies ahead of the queen and any potential suitor, Elebuibon said in an interview with The Sun: “For the woman, she might not really have a problem but for any man who sleeps with Ooni of Ife’s ex-queen or marries without the appropriate cleansing, the man may die prematurely, he may be struck with sickness or there might be retrogression in his life.”
He added that marriage breakup is not common among Yoruba monarchs and the oracle must be consulted about the woman’s next move.
“The wife of the Oba will be asked to consult Ifa and Ifa will give directions on how she will make the necessary atonement for her cleansing.
“In Yoruba tradition, a woman who has been married to a king cannot lay with any other man even if the marriage breaks up. But when the right atonements have been made, there won’t be problem’.
“Any marriage she would be going into must not be elaborate. They should go far away and avoid any flamboyant wedding,” Elebuibon continued.
