The death toll in the building collapse which occurred Wednesday in Onitsha, Anambra State, has risen to five.
Police in Anambra had earlier said two people died in the incident.
However, the command’s spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, told journalists on Thursday that three more persons have died.
“Update on collapsed three-storey building in Onitsha. Five Persons confirmed dead and two victims survived,” he said.
The building still under construction before the fall was said to have collapsed at about 1:45 pm Wednesday.
Eyewitnesses say the fall might be connected to weak building materials.
Mr Mohammed said the case was under investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
