Defence ministers, IGP, service chiefs visit Taoreed Lagbaja’s widow

Minister of defence Muhammed Badaru and minister of state for defence Bello Matawalle on Thursday led service chiefs on a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.

Lagbaja died in Lagos on Tuesday night after a brief illness. He was 56 years old and 23rd army chief.

The service chiefs present at the official residence of the Lagbaja family were the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Man.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye.

Also on the visit was the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the permanent secretary of Ministry of Defence, Dr Ibrahim Kana.

Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, received the visitors at the Flag Staff House, official residence of the COAS at Niger Barracks, Abuja.

The ministers and service chiefs took turn to pen down their individual condolence messages in the register.
