Lawyer Deji Adeyanju on Monday joined social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, at the National Assembly complex for the joint committee investigating allegations of corruption against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
VeryDarkMan recently published audio recordings of a conversation between crossdresser Idris Okuneye alias Bobrisky and an unidentified person. In the recording, Bobrisky, who was convicted and sentenced to prison for naira abuse in April, accused the NCoS of demanding bribe from him to enable him serve his term in the VIP section of the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre in Lagos.
It was also alleged that EFCC officials were bribed N15 million to drop money laundering charges against Bobrisky.
The House of Representatives, on September 26, resolved to investigate the bribery allegations levelled against the government agencies.
The resolution of the House followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by the member representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency, Akwa Ibom State, Patrick Umoh.
However, on Monday, Mr Adeyanju accompanied VeryDarkMan to the joint committee for questioning.
Meanwhile, the NCoS has suspended some senior officers over the scandal.
