Media mogul Dele Momodu on Sunday attended the first memorial service of founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Prophet TB Joshua at the Lagos megachurch.
Visitors from all over the world attended the service. Mr Momodu himself flew in from Accra, Ghana for the service.
On behalf of former Ghanaian President John Mahama, a delegation from Ghana was also present.
The chairman of Ovation Media Group was full of adulation for SCOAN leader Pastor Evelyn Joshua. He had promised her he would be present for the occasion.
In one post he made to Instagram about the service, Momodu said, “MAMA EVELYN JOSHUA has worked assiduously to prove cynics wrong by holding THE SYNAGOGUE worldwide together.”
In another, he praised her strength of character, saying, “The ambience at THE SYNAGOGUE was just surreal, and MADAM EVELYN JOSHUA’s strength of character was palpable on display with the meticulous organisation.”
Ahead of the memorial service, Momodu paid a visit to Evelyn on June 1 at the church’s prayer mountain in Ikotun-Egbe area of Lagos.
Momodu is one of those who stood by Evelyn when the church experienced a leadership crisis following the death of Joshua on June 5, 2021.
He paid her a condolence visit after Joshua’s passing and revealed a number of things about his relationship with the late clergyman.
Momodu said Joshua supported him during his bid for the Nigerian Presidency in 2011. He also revealed the late televangelist gave him money despite telling him he would not win the election.
