Publisher of Ovation Magazine Dele Momodu has paid tributes to the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Prophet TB Joshua three years after his death.
Joshua, who died on June 5, 2021, was widely known for his philanthropism.
Celebrating his life on Wednesday on social media, Momodu said: “May your gentle and Philanthropic soul continue to rest in peace PROPHET TEMITOPE BALOGUN JOSHUA.”
The Lagos-based church will hold a praise and worship session on Wednesday night to celebrate Joshua’s third memorial anniversary.
In January, BBC released a documentary on Joshua after interviewing people who claimed to be his former disciples. Among the allegations, the interviewees alleged Joshua raped, sexually assaulted and tortured those he called his disciples who lived in the church.
Momodu was one of those who spoke in Joshua’s defence.
The media entrepreneur said on Instagram that every human being has a good and bad side, adding that Joshua was not any different.
Momodu, a friend of Joshua’s family, said many who were afflicted and needy regarded Joshua as an angel.
“There is good and bad in every mortal, but I always look out for more good than bad in every human I encounter… PASTOR TEMITOPE BALOGUN JOSHUA was certainly an ‘angel’ on earth to the needy and the afflicted, and he touched millions of lives globally… He was definitely not a Jesus Christ but undoubtedly one of the most accomplished Prophets on Planet Earth,” he wrote.
Praying for the church which is now under Joshua’s wife’s leadership, Momodu wrote: “May the Ministry he left behind continue to thrive and prosper in order to touch more helpless and hopeless situations.”
