Delta Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme on Monday flagged off a free medical outreach as part of activities to commemorate his 60th birthday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 3-Day event was officially flagged off at Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state.

Onyeme in his opening remarks, appreciated God for making it possible for him to attain the age of 60 years.

He said that reaching the people through medical outreach was one of the ways to thank God for his mercies.

He added that the programme would be held in the three Federal Constituencies of Delta North comprising Ndokwa, Ika and Aniocha and Oshimili.

According to him, today is a great day because God has made it possible for me to clock 60 years.

“I didn’t know that I would get to 60 years; It is God who made it possible for me to go to school and also made it possible for me to become the deputy governor.

“I said that this celebration will not be for me alone, this medical outreach is my way of saying thank God.

“The best way of showing appreciation to God is by appreciating your fellow human beings. Continue to remember us in your prayers and remember our governor, Sheriff Oborevwori in your prayers.”

“We must continue to pray for and support our governor.”

The deputy governor added that Tuesday would be the turn of Ika and Wednesday Aniocha and Oshimili to benefit from the free medical outreach.

In their separate remarks at the event, Chief Funkekeme Solomon, Senior Policy Adviser to Delta Government and the Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Council, Mr Possible Ajede, lauded the deputy governor for putting smiles on the faces of the people as a way of celebrating his birthday.
