Yobe State Deputy Governor Idi Gubana on Saturday lost his son in an auto crash.
The seven-year-old boy, who was named after Governor Mai Buni, died in a crash along Maiduguri-Kano road, a statement signed by Gubana’s chief press secretary Hussaini Suleh said.
The statement noted that the boy has been buried according to Islamic rites at the palace of the Mai of Fune in Damagum town, Fune Local Government Area.
Gubana was quoted as saying, “I will forever remember him as somebody close to me.’’
Top government officials and other personalities were at the residence of the deputy governor to sympathise with the family over the death.
