Actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot on Thursday joined other members of the Lagos State House of Assembly for a valedictory session for their colleague Abdul-Sobur Olawale.
Mr. Olawale, who represented Mushin Constituency II and was chairman of House Committee on Local Government and Community Relations. died in Jos, Plateau State during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally on November 15.
Mr. Elliot posted a picture of himself and House Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on Instagram on Thursday, writing that they were at the “valedictory plenary service in honour of my friend, brother and colleague Hon Sobur Olayiwola Olawale who passed on last Tuesday.”
After observing a minute’s silence in honour of the departed lawmaker, members of the Lagos assembly tasked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to assist children of the deceased with jobs and scholarships.
Fondly called Omititi by his constituents, friends, associates, political loyalists and admirers, Olawale was born on March 12, 1964.
The 58-year-old was buried on November 16 according to Islamic rites.
