Film, television, theatre and voice actor, Deyemi Okanlawon, is following the footsteps of Richard Mofe-Damijo as he hopes to become the next big thing to come out of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Both men feature in the much anticipated movie, Dinner, scheduled for cinema release on November 11.
Best known for his roles in the TV series, Gidi Up and An African City, Deyemi also has his personal projects like the short film, For You, My Son.
Whether in movies, TV series, TV commercials, theatre plays or short films, Deyemi keeps giving viewers déjà vu as his personality, acting style and prominence reminds them of a young RMD.
Like Mr Mofe-Damijo, Deyemi has starred in blockbuster movies alongside top Nollywood actors and actresses.
Some of his most successful works include Road to Yesterday with Genevieve Nnaji and Majid Michel, Tolu Ajayi’s Blink, the music video of Falz the Badh Guy’s ‘Soldier’, If Tomorrow Never Comes with Yvonne Nelson and Beyond Blood with Joseph Benjamin.
Others are Ndani TV’s Gidi Up with OC Ukeje, Dowry with Linda Ejiofor, Blessing Egbe’s Lekki Wives, Uduak Oguamanam’s Desperate House Girls, and Robert Peter’s Hell’s Fury.
Three years after making his feature film debut in the movie, ZR-7, Deyemi won the award for Best Actor in a Short Film at the In-Short film festival for his role as a psychotic husband in the thriller, Blink, in 2013.
Deyemi has also won both the Best of Nollywood (BON) Revelation of the Year Award and GMA Awards Best Actor (African Collaboration) for his role in If Tomorrow Never Comes.
The highly sought-after actor frequently mentions RMD as his muse and mentor and he has also been compared by fans and the media with the likes of African-American actor, Denzel Washington, as well as African-British actor, Idris Elba.
