Spokesmen of the PDP and APC presidential campaign councils Dino Melaye and Femi Fani-Kayode put their differences aside on Monday and embraced.
Melaye and Fani-Kayode have been at each other’s throats since the political campaigns began ahead of the 2023 general elections.
However, at the Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki Memorial Lecture, both men exchanged pleasantries and cracked jokes together.
The lecture was chaired by the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III and delivered by Kenyan orator and pan-Africanist Professor Patrick Lumumba.
Traditional rulers, including the Emir of Kano and leaders and politicians were present.
Fani-Kayode posted photos of the event on Twitter and said, “This was an occassion in which the best and finest of our nation was celebrated and it was a day of politics without bitterness as rivals and political adversaries set their differences aside, hugged one another, deliberated about our nation, spoke about the past and our aspirations and hopes for the future and cracked jokes.
He added, “We all came together as one. It was a great day and a beautiful sight to behold.”
