Senator Dino Melaye has hailed Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, amid the controversy following the governor’s congratulatory message to President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.
Wike broke ranks among his party faithful when he congratulated Buhari on Wednesday despite his party vowing to appeal the judgement.

In a tweet on Thursday, Melaye hailed the governor, calling him the “pride of modern day Democracy in Nigeria.”
He, however, did not state the reason why he praised the governor.
“Governor Wike (National Governor) of Rivers State. I salute you, God bless you and keep you. You are the pride of modern day Democracy in Nigeria. Nothing do you Mr Project… Carry Gooooooooo,” Melaye wrote.
Wike had also on Wednesday warned PDP against toying with Rivers.
He said he was dismayed over the committee set up by his party to investigate the emergence of Ndudi Elumelu as the minority leader of the House of Representatives.

Wike described the committee as the most corrupt in the history of PDP.
“We are warning PDP to be careful not to toy with Rivers State. The state has all it takes to withstand the PDP and fight the party to a standstill. Rivers governor is not one of those governors that anyone can cajole. He is not one of those governors that will kowtow to illicit activities,” he said.
