The Government of Djibouti has presented Senators Dino Melaye and Orji Kalu with sword-like gifts.
Melaye, who formerly represented Kogi West at the upper legislative chambers, posted on social media pictures and videos of himself and Kalu being decorated on Sunday.
He captioned one of the posts, “Special gift from Government of Djibouti.”
According to Melaye, they were decorated at the residence of the country’s minister of budget. Djibouti President Ismail Guelleh and speaker of parliament were also present.
Melaye and Kalu are in Djibouti for conference.
The controversial former lawmaker had earlier posted a video of himself and Kalu on Instagram travelling in a private aircraft, possibly to Djibouti.
Melaye boasted that “this is the life” which should be enjoyed as he exchanged pleasantries with Kalu on the aircraft.
