Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, has shared a picture of his late mother’s grave.
The late Comfort Melaye, who passed on aged 70, was buried on Saturday at Elder J. E. Melaye’s residence, Jesus’ Street, Iluafon quarters, Ayetoro Gbede, Kogi State.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election, Peter Obi, were among personalities that attended the funeral.
Melaye, who is also running for office of the governor of Kogi State, on Sunday posted a picture of the grave on Twitter.
Speaking during the church service after his late mother’s interment on Saturday, the lawmaker said his mother was his greatest asset and motivator in everything.
“When I was in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, I was asked to bring my parents following a riot I helped to organise in protest against increase in school fees. When my mother arrived, she only asked me if I stole or killed somebody, to which I said no. I told her I organised protest against increase in school fees, and she said, ‘Carry on, you have my support,'” Melaye said.
