Lekan Odunare, the young man who was filmed while he was about jumping into a lagoon in Epe, Lagos, has died, the family confirmed on Thursday.
Mr Odunare’s body was found two days after he dived into the water, a member of his family who did not want name mentioned told PUNCH.
Before jumping into the water, Odunare, whose highest academic qualification was national diploma, was asked by a man who filmed the incident what his intention was.
But Odunare did not answer any of the questions before jumping into the lagoon.
Lagos police spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu said he had yet to get an update on the matter.
Also, general manager of the Lagos State Waterways Authority, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, told the newspaper that the agency had no information on the matter.
