World No 1, Novak Djokovic, who is eyeing a first French Open title is likely to face nine times champion, Rafael Nadal, after the draw was conducted in Paris on Friday.
Djokovic will face 100th-ranked, Lu Yen-hsun, while Nadal has been paired with Australian tennis star, Sam Groth, in the first round.
Nadal was promoted to fourth seed after Swiss legend, Roger Federer, pulled out due to fitness concerns.
The Spaniard could meet France’s Jo- Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter-finals.
Another Frenchman, Gael Monfils, pulled out of the tournament because of a viral infection on Friday.
World No 2, Andy Murray has been paired with Czech veteran, Radek Stepanek, in the other first round tie, before a possible last eight meeting with Japanese fifth seed, Kei Nishikori.
Defending champion, Stan Wawrinka, could face Murray in the semi-finals.
In the women category, defending champion, Serena Williams, will face Slovakian, Magdalena Rybarikova, in the first round.
The French Open starts on Sunday and ends on June 5 with the men’s final.
