Kogi Central Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 poll Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has paid tributes to the late chairman of Daar Communications Plc Raymond Dokpesi.
The media mogul, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), died on Monday at the age of 71 in Abuja.
Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan, who survived a road accident last month, revealed via social media that Dokpesi’s platform has been covering her activities free of charge since 2018.
Dokpesi’s company manages Nigeria’s first satellite television channel Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM.
She said, “Rest in Peace High Chief Raymond Dokpesi; the great iroko who revolutionised the media space.
“Thanks for your many human impacts through your rich life’s journey.
“Lastly, THANK YOU for opening your platform to cover all of my activities FREE since 2018.
“‘I can’t stand watching people oppressed’. You’d often say.
“Sleep well by our God and do intercede for our country. May your family and institution heal from this calamity.”
Dokpesi died in an Abuja hospital after he suffered a stroke following the recent Ramadan fast.
The AIT boss had since then been managing his health and was placed on occupational therapy to improve his daily activities before his sudden death.
