Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Sunday made her farewell post on Instagram ahead of the presidential inauguration on Monday, May 29.
Mrs Osinbajo shared a back-view photo of herself and husband walking away.
She said she was thankful for the eight years her husband spent as the number two citizen and that it was time to say goodbye.
“Thanking God for 8 years. #ItIsTime #TimeToSayGoodbye,” she wrote.
“Thank you for your sacrifices in your service to our country. God bless you both!!” the former chairperson of First Bank of Nigeria Ltd Ibukun Awosika reacted in the comment section.
In June 2022, Prof Osinbajo contested the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress.
He got 235 votes at the primary held at Eagle Square in Abuja. The vice president came third behind former minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi (316 votes) and the eventual winner Bola Tinubu (1,271 votes).
Mrs Osinbajo posted a photo of her husband on Instagram with words of praise in Yoruba to describe him.
She said, “Oluyemi. Oluleke. Omoluabi. Omo oko. Oninu ire. Oniwa Pele. Oniwa tutu. Ologbon. Olododo. Alaanu. I’m proud of you!”
Before the primary, Osinbajo was seen as the biggest threat to Tinubu’s presidential ambition. While some of Tinubu’s cronies stepped down from the presidential race to support Tinubu, Osinbajo went into the contest head-on.
