Don Jazzy, Toyin Abraham, Peller win big at Silverbird Man of the Year Awards

Mavin Records boss Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, actress Toyin Abraham, TikTok star Peller, and others were among the winners at the Silverbird Man of the Year Awards held on Sunday, March 16, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event honored personalities across entertainment, politics, and public service for their contributions to their industries.

Don Jazzy received the Extraordinary Achievement Award for his impact on Nigerian music. The producer, known for mentoring stars like Rema, Ayra Starr, and Korede Bello, expressed gratitude, saying, “This award is not just for me, but for every young talent striving to make a mark in the industry.”

Veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for a career spanning over three decades. Reflecting on his journey, he said, “This recognition means a lot. It is a testament to the years of hard work, passion, and dedication to the art of storytelling.”

Toyin Abraham and Chidi Mokeme won the Trailblazer Award for their contributions to Nollywood.

Toyin, known for films like Ijakumo, The Ghost and the Tout Too and Alakada Reloaded, dedicated her award to aspiring female filmmakers.

Chidi Mokeme, whose performance in Shanty Town earned him praise, described the recognition as “fuel to keep breaking new grounds in Nollywood.”

TikTok star Peller won Influencer of the Year but struggled to address the audience.

Fellow content creator Jarvis joined him on stage to assist. A viral clip from the event showed Peller prostrating to greet Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, sparking laughter.

Expressing his excitement, Peller said, “I am speechless, thank you all for making me win this award. You all make it happen, I am so grateful. God bless you all, I love you guys. Even though I no get content, una still make me win award. Thanks to my wife for always supporting me. Love her. My management, thanks for always standing behind me. Thanks to everyone, I’m so happy.”

Other winners at the event included Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, who received the Silverbird Man of the Year Award, while Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) and Peter Mbah (Enugu) were named Governors of the Year.

Minister of Works Dr. David Umahi was recognized as Minister of the Year.
