Twitter users on Tuesday stormed the platform to raise concerns about his ability to perform after singer turned politician Banky W won the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent the party as the House of Representatives candidate in the 2023 elections
Banky W on Monday polled 28 votes out of 31 while his closest opponent for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat Sam Aiboni scored three votes.
Reacting to the news, some tweeps urged the singer to avoid following in the footsteps of his colleague, lawmaker, Desmond Elliot.
A tweep Emma wrote: “We’ll vote him. Hope he won’t call us kids later in n the house debate.”
Another user Lola said: “I think one of our greatest fear is for Banky W not to turn into a Desmond Elliot if he gets that seat!”
“Make this guy no fuckup like Desmond Elliott,” Miral wrote.
“So both entertainment guru are being compared on who is better. Desmond really showed us how unuseful he can be so let’s do with Banky W,” Tyler wrote.
One Joy Ciana wrote: “I felt bad earlier today when they started spreading the rumour that Banky W lost the PDP Primaries. I’m glad to hear that he won…Now, the hurdle is for him to win against the principalities in Lagos state, APC…and if he wins, I pray we don’t have another Desmond Elliot.”
Chimozuki prayed, “Dear Banky W, when you get there, please don’t become like Desmond Elliot. I take God beg you”.
Another tweep Nefertiti said, “Congratulations to Banky W. He just won the PDP Primaries ticket. Banky represents HOPE for the future. Desmond Elliot was a mistake. We need more youths in politics, but sensible youths.”
