Actress Carolyna Hutchings has addressed the youth ahead of the planned nationwide protests, urging them to refrain from violence and vandalism.
In a message shared on her Instagram Story on Thursday, Carolyna advised protesters to avoid damaging property and businesses, highlighting the shared struggles faced by all.
“If there would be a protest, please do not destroy or vandalize people’s properties/businesses. Everyone is going through it equally. Focus on those you are protesting against,” she wrote.
The actress also emphasised the importance of respecting those who choose to remain silent during these trying times.
“Do not attack anyone or media personality that wishes to stay quiet. Some people are just too tired or weak to talk anymore,” she said.
The call for peace comes amid growing tension as nationwide protests have been scheduled against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Reports indicate that state governments are unsettled by the plan organised by anonymous Nigerian youth to hold protests from August 1 to 15.
The protests aim to draw attention to the worsening conditions faced by citizens, including hunger and hardship.
The planned protests have garnered significant attention and concern from Nigerians home and abroad, as the nation braces for the potential impact of the mass action.
