Alex Iwobi may be Super Eagles new golden boy, but Arsenal seems not to have a thorough knowledge of his country.
Iwobi, 21, switched allegiance to Nigeria in 2015 after representing England at various youth levels.
The Arsenal forward scored the all-important strike against Zambia that sealed the country’s place in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
However, Iwobi has admitted he still finds it difficult to recite the national anthem.
”I know it but I don’t know it well,” the skilful midfielder said when squeezed by his club about his country.
“When they are recording, the camera comes on you I know what to say. For the Nigerian viewers, I do know it.”
Nigerians will be hoping he sharpens that with barely two months to the start of the competition.
The three-time African champions are drawn in Group D alongside Argentina, Iceland and Croatia.
