Don’t plunge Kano into political crisis – Sanusi

EMIR OF KANO MUHAMMADU SANUSI II

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has warned politicians in the state against instigating violence among the people.

Sanusi gave the caution on Tuesday during a news conference on the resurgence of thuggery in Kano metropolis.

The former Central Bank Governor warned against arming youths as seen in recent cases where young people suspected to be thugs launched attacks at innocent residents.

“We decided to address the news conference because reports reaching us indicated that there is serious threat to people’s lives and property.

“There should be tolerance among politicians and other citizens. Politics is not a war, if you have your PVC you elect leaders of your choice,” he said.

The monarch also urged traditional rulers in the 44 Local Government Areas of the state to caution their subjects and support security agents in the fight against violence as the elections draw closer.

“Traditional rulers in the local government areas should caution their subjects on the importance of peaceful coexistence,” he said.
