Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has said that the Door of Return 2020 programme has been suspended over the coronavirus.
The event was billed to hold in October.
However, Mrs Dabiri-Erewa said in a tweet on Friday that the programme has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic
“Pity, due to Covid 19, the Door of Return will not hold this year Oct. But we are planning some mini event for December. Hopefully,” she said.
The NIDCOM, Lagos State Government, African Door of Return Experience and the African Renaissance Foundation have been organising the Door of Return in Badagry, Lagos since 2017.
NIDCOM had in January disowned the Door of Return 2020 programme being circulated by unknown persons.
