Dr Chinelo Megafu, who was killed in the Abuja-Kaduna train attack on March 28, 2022, has been buried at Ebony Private Cemetery, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The dental surgeon was laid to rest on Thursday after a funeral service at Shepherdhill Baptist Church, Obanikoro, Lagos.
Family and friends gathered to pay their last respects to the 29-year-old whose death came after she had prepared to leave the country for greener pastures.
Chinelo was shot by the terrorists who attacked the train she boarded. Her last tweet was to inform the public that she had been shot. “I’m on the train. I have been shot. Please pray for me,” she wrote.
However, she was trolled and accused of clout-chasing with the incident. Some Twitter users asked her if she was dead yet.
Speaking at the funeral service, her father Ifeanyi Megafu said he was saddened by the tweets which followed his daughter’s call for help during the attack.
Megafu added that he has forgiven his daughter’s mockers.
Chinelo graduated from the University of Port Harcourt in 2016. She did her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme at the Kaduna State Dental Centre and worked with St Gerrard’s Hospital, Kakuri.
Revealing more about Chinelo, her friend Steph Adamu tweeted after the tragic incident, “Dr Chinelo was making an honest living, she was working at St Gerald’s hospital in Kaduna, she wanted more for herself and processed her papers to leave this hell-hole.
“She resigned last month to leave the country this Friday then this happened. Nigeria why???”
