Former aviation minister Osita Chidoka has said that he spoke with the father of the late Dr Chinelo Nwando who revealed that he did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Kaduna in 1982.
Chinelo was among several persons who died from gunshot wounds after terrorists attacked Abuja-Kaduna train on Monday night.
The incident has sparked outrage and calls for improved security from the general public.
Mr Chidoka said in a post to Facebook on Thursday that Chinelo’s father is having difficulty getting to Kaduna.
“I spoke to Dr Chinelo’s father. He is in pain. He told me that he did NYSC in Kaduna in 1982. He had fond memories of KD before this descent to chaos,” he said.
“He doesn’t know how to get to Kaduna, Airlines are cancelling flights, train from Abuja is not an option, the road to Kaduna is under the control of bandits.”
The former minister said he told the late dental surgeon’s father that “Nigeria did not happen to you, bad governance did.”
“We are paying the price of divisive & clueless governance. Heavy price,” he added.
A friend of the late doctor, Steph Adamu, had tweeted on Tuesday saying Chinelo had concluded plans to travel abroad for a better life.
