R&B singer, Michel’le, has opened up about her tempestuous relationship with rapper and producer, Dr Dre.
According to the 44-year-old songstress, who gave birth to a son named Marcel with Dre in 1991 from a relationship that ran from the 80s to 1996, the music mogul used to beat her regularly and she had bruises from their time together.
This wasn’t the first time she would be making such allegations, but the R&B Divas: LA cast member held nothing back when she stopped by The Breakfast Club in New York for the interview on Friday.
When asked why she broke up with the former N.W.A. member, Michel’le, who speaks in a squeaky and childish manner, said besides the physical abuse, he was also unfaithful to her.
In fact, he cheated on her with his current wife Nicole Young,” said Michel’le.
“Waiting him out girl after girl, fighting,” she explained. “It was a lot. You get tired. I tried [to fight him back but] I was losing.”
By the relationship’s end, Michel’le said she had five black eyes, a broken nose, several scars and cracked ribs.
“It was normal,” she stated. “Everybody that knew, it was normal.”
She added that the former N.W.A. member has not apologised for the abuse.
“He hasn’t apologised to this day. It wouldn’t even do any good because it was the past,” she said.
“I do remember when he first gave me my very first black eye. We laid in the bed and he cried. He was crying. He said ‘I’m really sorry.’ I think that’s the only time he ever said ‘I’m sorry.’ He said ‘I’ll never hit you in that eye again,” added the reality star.
Michel’le was married to Dr Dre’s former bodyguard and business partner, Suge Knight, in 1999 and has a daughter, Balei, who was born in 2002 with him as well.
Knight is currently standing trial for murder and attempted murder after an altercation on January 29 that led him to fatally running over his former associate, Terry Carter, 55, on set of the upcoming biopic about N.W.A. called Straight Outta Compton.
