Singer Sidney Esiri, popularly known as Dr Sid, has dedicated his new movie The Order of Things to his dad, the late veteran actor, Justus Esiri, adding that he wishes Esiri were alive to witness him make his directorial debut.
Dr Sid made this known in a recent chat with The Nation, saying that he wishes the movie star could see his achievement as a filmmaker with the release of his feature film.
“I just did something that is a great feat for me, something that my dad should have seen. I would have loved my dad to see it,” he said.
Speaking on his transition from music to movies, the 42-year-old said, “I have moved from a lot of things, from dentistry to music, to owning my record label, to gaming and films, I’m constantly evolving as an individual, I think growth and change is the only constant thing. I just wanted to try and add my quota to Nollywood and see how I could get people to enjoy it as well.”
Dr. Sid’s directorial debut features actors Timini Egbuson, Binta Ayo Mogaji, Lateef Adedimeji, Demola Adedoyin, and Obi Maduegbuna.
The romantic comedy, which Sid said is dedicated to the memory of his father, revolves around a nerd who must obey his mother’s wish to be married before his kid brother.
Justus Esiri died on February 19, 2013.
