EMMANUEL DANIEL ORLANDO PIRATES GOALKEEPER

Dream Team VI goalkeeper, Emmanuel Daniel, has joined South African giants, Orlando Pirates from Enugu Rangers.

The 23-year-old who featured for Nigeria at last summer’s Rio Olympics was signed by the Buccaneers following an impressive trial with the club.

In one of the friendly games for Bucs earlier this month, Daniel dazzled in goal against Black Leopards, with the shot-stopper keeping a clean sheet at the Orlando Stadium.

His move to the four-time Premier Soccer League champions has finally put an end to reported interest from reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Nigerian could immediately slot in goal for Bucs considering injury and suspension to regular pair, Brighton Mhlongo and Jackson Mabokgwane respectively.

The departure of Ghanaian midfielder, Edwin Gyimah, could also pave way for Daniel in the club’s foreign quota for the season.

He thus becomes the second Nigerian on the books of the Johannesburg-based club – joining defender, James Okwuosa.
