Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, has urged former teammate, Mikel Obi, to make the switch from Stamford Bridge to Marseille.
Mikel, 29, has fallen down the perking order under Antonio Conte this term – failing to make a single appearance in all competitions.
Drogba, who played at the Stade Vélodrome prior to his move to Chelsea in 2004, believes the Nigerian will be a hit in the French Ligue 1.
The Ivorian suggests that Mikel will be respected at Marseille just like him during his brief stint at the club.
“Mikel will find relevance at Marseille,” Drogba, who played seven years alongside Mikel at Chelsea, told RAC1.
“I told him how well I was treated during my time there and above all it will help him stay close to his family.
“Marseille are not doing badly this season and Mikel’s experience will come in handy in helping them finish the season on a high.”
Should Mikel eventually join Rudi Garcia’s side, he will become only the second Nigerian to feature at the Stade Vélodrome after Taye Taiwo.
