Abba Bichi, son of the director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS) Yusuf Bichi, posted a message of support for businessman Obi Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana following the latter’s arrest on Monday.
Obi Cubana was quizzed at the Abuja headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of money laundering and tax evasion.
Following news of the entrepreneur’s arrest, Mr Bichi, a footballer, described Obi Cubana in an Instagram post as “a man of honour and dignity.”
The teenager added that not every wealthy person is fraudulent, although that part of his post had been taken away as of Tuesday.
Bichi’s post has attracted over 500 comments with some Instagram users accusing him of supporting “Yahoo boys” a local term for describing cybercriminals.
An Instagram user @nadiaibrahimismail wrote, “@abba__bichi you’re not ashamed your father is the DG SSS, a responsible person you’re here supporting yahoo boys.”
Bichi replied, “Go and prove that okay, not everyone with money is into fraud, you idiots support politicians with money and find it hard to see any good Nigerian with money! Indeed you are an illiterate of the highest order.”
Meanwhile, Obi Cubana has been released by the EFCC.
