Department of State Services (DSS) has released Bayelsa-based journalist, Jones Abiri, who was arrested on Saturday.
Mr Abiri is the publisher of Weekly Source Newspaper based in Bayelsa. He was arrested on Saturday at about 4:30 p.m.
The journalist’s lawyer, Samuel Ogala, said Abiri was released on Monday afternoon from the secret police’s detention facility in Abuja.
“He has just been released around 2:00 p.m.,” Mr Ogala told newsmen.
He added that terms of the release would be made public later.
Abiri was incarcerated from 2016 to 2018 by DSS for alleged links to Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force, a separatist group.
DSS has not issued any statement to clarify its reason for the arrest which it initially denied.
