The Department of State Security (DSS) has flown veteran actor Chiwetalu Agu to Abuja as part of the investigations for promoting Biafra and allegedly campaigning to members of the public.
The actor who was arrested by soldiers in Onitsha, Anambra State on Thursday, October 7, after he was spotted wearing an outfit made from the Biafran flag was released on Friday with the help of the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, only to be rearrested by the DSS who claimed that the Nigerian Army handed him over to them.
A relative who spoke to The Punch claimed that they were denied access to the actor.
The relative, who wished to remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the case, said that the 67-year-old was first moved from Anambra to Enugu and then to Abuja.
He said attempts to see him in Abuja were rebuffed by the DSS.
“We spent two days trying to ascertain his whereabouts. We were later informed that he was moved to Enugu and then Abuja.
“We heard that the idea is to move him away from the South-East. We have made efforts to see him, but the DSS has not granted us access. Even the lawyers have not been allowed to reach him,” he said.
