Managing director/chief executive officer of Transcorp Hotels Plc Dupe Olusola on Monday took to social media to celebrate four years of overseeing the day-to-day running of the hospitality brand.
In an Instagram post, she recalled how the company’s fortunes dipped due to COVID-19 and how the firm faced the future head-on.
“Where do I even begin? I remember being appointed as the MD/CEO of @transcorphotelsplc in March 2020 right on the onset of the pandemic – an absolutely crazy time where the global economy faced shut down and even more so for the hospitality and aviation businesses,” she wrote.
“We went from 70% occupancy to 5% occupancy when I took over – it was like a ghost town and we were immediately reporting losses monthly, downsizing, and all of this forced us to think out of the box to keep the business open and running.
“The Covid season challenged us, but also taught us that disruption is crucial for growth and success. It helped us change our mindset to appreciate teamwork and collaboration and all of these have resulted in amazing performances year on year. We break profit and revenue records every year and when it looks like we’ve reached a ceiling, we push again and produce new records.
“These last four years have reaffirmed the power of a team dedicated to excellence, a team that doesn’t see impossibilities but is always ready to break new grounds.”
