Despite having to journey many miles to Nigeria, East African athletes still had enough in their arsenal in Saturday’s Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
They completely dominated both the male and female versions.
Abraham Kiprotich, a French-born-Kenyan won the men’s race with a time of 2:13:04, claiming the $50,000 top prize.
Countrymen, Kiboss Ronny and Victor Benjamin gave him a big fight, coming second and third respectively.
Ayelu Hordofa of Ethiopia won the women’s race with a time of 2:35:17.
She was in good company of her compatriots Herma Guta and Girma Getachew.
In the Nigerian category, Ilya Pam won for the second year running while Sharabutu Philibus came second.
Williams Kefas came in as the third best Nigerian finisher.
