Veteran musician Ebenezer Obey has thanked God for strength on his 80th birthday.
The music legend posted a lovely photo of himself on Instagram on Sunday to celebrate adding another year.
He noted that he was grateful for strength while thanking his family and friends for their support.
“The legend clocks 80 today. Thank you God for the strength and you to the family and friends for their endless support,” he wrote.
Several celebrities and fans wished him a happy birthday in the comment section of the post.
Ebenezer Obey began his professional career in the mid-1950s after moving to Lagos. He was trained by the late Fatai Rolling Dollar.
Chief commander, as he is fondly called, formed a band called The International Brothers in 1964, playing highlife–juju fusion.
With more than five decades of active singing, the Egba-born singer is internationally recognised for evolving a unique juju sound from highlife music.
Some of his popular songs include ‘Olomi Gbo Temi’, ‘The horse, the man, and the Son’ and ‘Iba Foluwa’.
