Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki on Monday met President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Seven other governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met with the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
Obaseki and the seven governors had on Sunday met a national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, at the State House, Marina, Lagos to intervene in the crisis between Oshiomhole and Obaseki.
Oshiomhole’s faction of the APC in Edo had settled for Osagie Ize-Iyamu as its consensus candidate for the governorship election, posing a threat to Obaseki’s second term hopes.
Also, while the APC’s national working committee (NWC) headed by Oshiomhole has settled for direct primary in Edo, Obaseki and his loyalists are seeking indirect primary.
Tinubu was said to have told the governors at the meeting on Sunday that direct primary would allow aspirants test their popularity.
The party’s primary is billed for June 22 ahead of election in September.
