The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it did not arrest Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano.
Several news outfits (not Qed.ng) had reported that Mrs Obiano was arrested on Thursday.
However, EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said the reports were falsified.
“We do not have her in our custody”, Uwujaren told P.M. News on Thursday night.
Obiano, the former governor, was arrested in Lagos last month as he attempted to travel to the United States, after handing over to his successor, Prof Charles Soludo.
He was later released on administrative bail after being moved to Abuja.
Mrs Obiano has announced she will contest to represent Anambra North Senatorial District, a seat currently held by Senator Stella Oduah (APC).
The former governor’s wife was in the news last month after she clashed with former diplomat Bianca Ojukwu at Soludo’s inauguration.
