The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained a former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Nsima Ekere following investigation of contracts worth N47 billion.
Mr Ekere, it was gathered, voluntarily reported at the Lagos office of the commission on Wednesday.
EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwajaren confirmed this to Channels Television.
The controversial contracts for which Ekere is being probed were allegedly awarded between 2017 and 2019.
The Nation quoted a source in the commission who spoke on the condition of anonymity for not being authorised to comment on the matter.
“This commission is investigating alleged diversion of N47billion through registered contractors of NDDC. Some phony contracts were allegedly awarded for diversion purpose. Ekere is undergoing interrogation and we have detained him,” the source said.
