Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday raided the headquarters of Dangote Group of Companies in Lagos State.
The operatives, it was gathered, arrived around 3 pm and began a search.
Spokesperson of the EFCC Dele Oyewale confirmed the presence of the anti-graft operatives at the location.
Mr Oyewale declined revealing their mission.
“I can confirm that our men are there, but I can’t comment on the reason for their presence there,” Oyewale told PUNCH.
The newspaper quoted a source who said anonymously that the EFCC is probing the foreign exchange allocations made to about 52 companies, including Dangote Plc, during the tenure of the embattled ex-governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
The source said the anti-graft agency discovered that the allocations were not approved by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
