The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released a former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati.
He was released around 8pm on Friday after submitting his passport to the anti-graft agency.
The popular columnist was arrested on October 21 over allegation he received N50 million from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
After initially working out a repayment of N5 million with the EFCC, Abati later told his interrogators that he could not raise any reimbursement, a stalemate that apparently prolonged his stay in custody.
His release coincides with that of former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro.
