The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the arrest warrant issued against Ezekiel Thankgod, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, who is accused of a $345,000 fraud.
Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Lagos State High Court had issued the bench warrant on January 16, 2025, after an ex parte application by the EFCC to compel Thankgod’s appearance in court to face criminal charges.
However, at Friday’s hearing, EFCC counsel Bilikisu Buhari requested the withdrawal of the arrest warrant.
She explained that the charges had been served on Thankgod’s lawyer, Monday Ubani (SAN), in open court, rendering the warrant unnecessary.
Following Buhari’s submission, Justice Owoeye approved the withdrawal of the bench warrant.
The case, which has drawn significant public attention, centers on allegations of financial misconduct involving the former manager of the popular gospel artiste.
