Filmmaker Ego Boyo has thrown her weight behind actress Ngozi Ezeonu, who criticised two ladies for attending a movie audition without bras.
In a viral video on Wednesday, Ngozi, a judge at the audition, reprimanded the ladies for wearing crop tops without undergarments, deeming their attire inappropriate.
She warned that anyone appearing before her in such clothing would be disqualified.
The video sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting Ngozi’s stance, while others argued she had no right to dictate how individuals should dress.
Weighing in on the controversy on X on Thursday, Ego Boyo defended Ngozi, emphasising the need for appropriate dress codes at auditions, likening them to job interviews.
“An audition is a job interview! Dress appropriately. Show up how you want to be addressed,” she wrote.
“What utter tosh from all these incredibly stupid hot takes. Utter rubbish. As a colleague said, ‘Because we provide entertainment, does not mean our work is a joke.’”
Her statement has been met with applause from some quarters, though others maintain that the women’s attire should not have warranted public criticism.
