The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has commiserated with the people of the state, families of six medical doctors at the Federal Medical Centre, Ado-Ekiti, and their driver who lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Sunday.
They were on an official assignment to Sokoto when the vehicle experienced a major mishap.
The lives lost included Dr. Alex Akinyele, who was secretary of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) in Ekiti State; Dr. Tunde Aladesanmi, and Dr. O.J. Taiwo, an anatomic pathologist at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti; Dr. J.B Ogunseye, Dr. O. Olajide and Dr. Atolani Adeniyi.
Their driver, Mr Ajibola, also lost his life.
In a statement on Tuesday, Ekiti APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said the party regretted the sudden loss of the physicians. He described them as illustrious sons of the state who had made their marks in the medical profession.
Olatunbosun further said the multiple deaths would be felt heavily on the medical body, particularly at a time more medical doctors are needed in the state’s medical institutions to take care of the health needs of the people.
He urged the families of the deceased to bear the loss with fortitude and encouraged Ekiti people to pray for the repose of the departed souls in the bosom of the Lord.
