The Board of Trustees of the Eko Club on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN, at his Surulere residence, paying glowing tribute to the former Chief Executive for his outstanding performance in the governance and development of the State.
Chairman of the Board, Chief Alaba Williams, who led four other members including the Club’s President, expressed gratitude to God for sparing Fashola’s life through the eight years in the saddle adding that it was the Almighty God that called him to participate in the development of the State and also gave him the strength and wisdom to accomplish the mission.
“We are proud of you and we glorify God for his immense mercies towards you and your family,” the Chairman said, adding that the purpose of the visit was to identify with the former Chief Executive, who, according to him, had stood by the Club throughout his eight years as Governor of Lagos State.
Recalling that the former Governor had always welcomed and identified with the Club especially by way of assistance anytime they called on him, Chief Williams declared, “Now it is our turn to reciprocate the gesture you accorded us as members of your Club. We are here to say we are very appreciative of all you have done and are still doing for the Club”.
According to him, “We want to place on record that we are solidly with you and we have no cause to regret our association with you. We thank you; we honour you and we glorify God for your life. We are grateful for the way you identified with us throughout your tenure of eight years and we want you to know that we are with you at all times. Thank you and God be with you”.
Responding, Mr. Fashola expressed gratitude for the show of love and urged members of the Club and all residents of the State to support the current administration led by Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.
Other members of the Club who accompanied the Chairman on the visit were the Club President, Alhaji Babatunde Faruk Grillo; past President of the Club, Alhaji Muritala Ashorobi; Alhaji Yomi Ayepola and Barrister Rilwan Dawudu, members of the Board of Trustees.
