Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai says his son Abubakar Al-Siddique whose enrolment in a public school in the state was publicised in September 2019 has been promoted to class 2.
The governor gave an update on the child’s education following a request by a Twitter user Uthman Samad.
“Dear @elrufai, on Sep 23 2019, you publicised the admission of Abubakar Elrufai joining a public school here,” Mr Samad wrote on Wednesday.
“I just want to know how the boy is faring and what class is he now sir?”
Mr El-Rufai replied on Thursday: “THANKS! – Abubakar S. El-Rufai is doing well, & was enjoying his schooling until the coronavirus virus shut-down in March. He was promoted to Class 2 just before closure of our public schools. Thank you@sarmerdk2 for the concern. God Bless.”
El-Rufai had said last year that he enrolled his son at Kaduna Capital School in order to lead by example and also show his commitment to fixing the educational sector in the state.
The governor had in 2017 said: “I will by personal example ensure that my son that will be six years of age in 2019 will be enrolled in a public school in Kaduna State, by God’s grace.”
