Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Kajuru and Kasuwan Magani.
One person was killed and another injured in an attack in Kasuwan Magani in the early hours of Friday.
However, In a tweet on Friday morning, El-Rufai said the curfew in both locations would take immediate effect.
He added that the Deputy Governor Barnabas Bala has directed ‘vigorous enforcement’ of the curfew.
A Briton, Faye Mooney, and her Nigerian partner, Matthew Oguche, were the latest victims of suspected bandits in Kajuru, Kaduna.
El-Rufai said: “The Kaduna State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Kasuwan Magani with immediate effect. Deputy Governor Barnabas Yusuf Bala has directed vigorous enforcement of the curfew and has urged citizens to comply and support peace efforts in the community.
“The dusk to dawn curfew that has been in place in Kajuru LGA has been extended to 24-hours in the entire local government area. The 24-hour curfew in Kajuru LGA is with immediate effect, and will be enforced until further notice.”
