Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El’rufai, has instructed the attorney general of the state to prosecute a suspended lecturer at Kaduna State University (KASU), Bala Umar.
Mr Umar was suspended on Wednesday following allegations of sex for grades by a female graduate of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

The unnamed woman carried out a one-woman protest at KASU against Umar’s employment.
She alleged that Umar, who was sacked by ABU for sexual misconduct and later employed by KASU, was not fit to be a lecturer in any institution.
In a tweet, however, on Thursday, El’rufai said the suspension was the first step.

“The suspension of Mr. Umar by KASU is the first step. He and 15 lecturers sacked by nearby ABU Zaria for sexual harassment will be fully investigated and prosecuted by the Attorney General of Kaduna State. We must face evil and end this scourge in our state,” he wrote.
KASU’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Prof. Abdullahi Ashafa, who chaired the committee, had said that the institution has zero-tolerance for such behaviour by its staff.
